Gratitude 2017
Gratitude is based on my experience of the deaths of two people who were close to me: my mother and a friend.
At my mother’s funeral, the Priest compared the life of an individual with stained glass.
Some experiences can be considered as stains - they are not always pleasant and beautiful, sometimes they are mixed with difficulty, struggle and suffering. However, when we look at the stained glass window as a whole, the quality is quite different, a play of light and shadow from which our lives are built. This quality recognizes the person as a whole. My triptych represents the celebration of life and ever-changing light, reflecting the presence (spirit or ghost) in shadow, transparency within light, and the disappearance of memories within one’s body. Bodies that one could touch and to which one did not have a chance to say good-bye. Death is like the moment when Stained glass is completed. Their final portrait.
