Mischief

In 2013, I created a small series of six images called Post-script as part of the process of developing Odyssey.

When I work on a new piece, I experiment a lot which includes drawing, painting, coloring, cutting, and forming. For Post-script, I was particularly interested in the archival group photographs from the series Odyssey. I wanted to explore what would happen if I overlapped these group photographs taken at different times and places.

I was drawn to the concept as it also spoke of successive generations. I found it fascinating to see how these images could overlap, disappear, reappear, and transform.

One of these photographs later became part of the Odyssey Installation.

In 2014, as a member of the collective Plateforme, I chose to install one of the photographs on the wall of Passage Dieu in Paris for the exhibition/ UNE JOURNEE DE COINCIDENCES which is accompanied by sound creation.

 I selected Passage Dieu to present my work, which juxtaposed a funeral photograph with an image of a baseball team celebrating a victory. During the exhibition, the piece was vandalized. Initially shocked, I later recognized that the act may have originated from the neighbors' discomfort with the work disturbing their sense of territory. I asked a colleague to photograph the vandalized piece for documentation.
