» http://www.ouest-france.fr/sept-anecdotes-sur-limagerie-pour-briller-en-societe-2785676 ![]() Image & Imagination" is a new exhibition that will open at the Hawai'i State Art Museum Sept. 5. ![]() "Reflect " will be exhibited at the Honolulu Museum of art at First Hawaiian Center from November 20, 2013 - March 31, 2014 with Hawaii's great Japanese-American Artists, Satoru Abe and Brian Y Sato. Right now I am working on the new pieces and hopefully there are new pieces shown for the first time at the exhibition. For details please view http://honolulumuseum.org/art/exhibitions/upcoming The exhibition : Reflect is part of the three man show entitled " photography : passion and risk" that opened on May 26 at the Maui arts and cultural center. This exhibition is based on suitcase full of photographs. These photographs were given to me by Thomas Hardy, a Frenchman who used to live in Lahaina. He salvaged a suit case full of the Japanese-American family photos that someone had thrown away. In the 2000s,Thomas came to my atelier where he saw a photograph of the sugar factory in Lahaina. After this encounter, he invited me to see the photographs he had brought back. A couple of years later we met again by chance in a travel agency where he decided to give me these photographs. Then last year, I was invited to exhibit at Maui arts & cultural center. Everything happened as if these photographs really needed to go back to where they came from. To me this Odyssey of the photographs in the suitcase carries the message from the past generations to the present generations: Do not forget your ancestors and where you are coming from.
