About

Miki Nitadori is a Japanese multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans installations, photography, sound, video, performance, participative art, and curation.
Her works explore themes of identity, belonging, and memory. Raised in Bangkok, Tokyo, Hawai'i, and Europe, Nitadori’s work reflects her diverse cultural experiences. By re-contextualizing personal and historical images, she delves into the intersection of family, heritage, and migration.
In addition to her visual work, Nitadori is also involved in educational residencies and workshops, sharing her process and insights with participants ranging from 3 to 90 years old, including emerging artists. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with shows at venues such as the Museum der Moderne (Austria), Honolulu Museum of Art (USA), and Rotterdam International Film Festival (Netherlands). Currently based in Paris, Nitadori’s work is represented by Galerie André & Catherine Hug.

Art statement
My work uses site-specific installations and photographs to examine Japanese immigration, identity, and personal memory. I reinterpret historical photos, frequently from my family's archives. I create installations that integrate light, sound, and space. Each installation invites the audience to reflect on how the past, present, and future are interconnected.
Through my art, I aim to provoke thought, foster connections, and encourage discussions about the complexities of memory and relationships.
By creating art, I hope to provoke thought, build connections, and promote discussion about the intricacies of memory and relationships.
