November 2009- January 2010/ Lycees edouard Branly Chatellerault, France
a view that i saw every morning when i walked out my door. 2009
During November 2009 to January 2010 ( during 8 weeks) ,I spent half of a week in a high school, Lycees Edoaurd Branly, Chatellerault. This residency was organized by Rurart in the frame work of project by the minister of culture called Ecritures de lumières". ( writing of light)
I have worked with 22 students and 2 teachers and 1 organizer.
We worked on different creations, based on the idea of class photo, including Combat ,Past, face to face and beyond, photo stories and portrait by students.
Perhaps the work are equally important to meeting,sharing, exchanging and process of creation.
We continue to create in distance for a presentation that will be held in March.
In this residence i was confronted the notion of time, for some students it was not comprehensible that photography is something that takes time.
Therefore it was interesting to also slow down. Everything does not happen
fast and give a result instantly. Using film in photography slows down the pace ,shooting,development, making mistakes,making correction, looking at the images and discussion.
I had a big support from the teachers and organizer but also from some silk screening department students.They were present, sensitive, attentive and gave their free time to this project. Their presences and efforts were the most encouraging elements for me to continue this work.
