Combat: manual for daily survival

a “photographic performance”, an action, art in process, a community participative project that provides a space for individuals to express with hand gestures signifying "the tools for daily survival".
The Project goal is to create works with a local community in diverse places in the world, in particular with communities that use hand gestures in daily life and have a tradition in printed textiles.
Conceptual and visual art project which has an aspect of research in hand gestures and textiles as they are cultural and specific in different community in the world.
The process aims to open participants to others and encourage themselves and others to live despite the difficulties. It is a way to realize that they are part of construction of their community.

Why Combat?

“By superposition of these visual elements, I attempt to create a visual confrontation / cohabitation, a dialog. Combat is an attempt to find a balance between public and private space in daily life.
I wish this work to be a link between individuals and community, contemporary life and tradition.”

And in the spiritual aspect:
“Happiness isn't ‘ready made’, it comes from our own action”,  His Holiness the Dalai-Lama.
The point of Combat is an action towards life.  It is a constructive action that proposes a reaction even when it is not easy and even when in doubt.

“Combat is a step towards happiness, an encouragement that I would like to share. I invite people to participate physically, mentally and visually in this project. I also propose that people create their own “propaganda” for life.”

Why gestures, Why hands?

The gestures symbolize the tools we need for daily survival.  We use our hands when words are not enough for expression.
